Flanders is famous for its unusual sour red ales, and Rodenbach is certainly the region’s super star. The Belgium “Grand Cru” is aged in large oak casks for at least two years before being blended with 1/3 of a younger batch which results in both smoky oak and toasty flavors in the process. The red ale also suggests citrus fruit and sour cherry flavor. This is an exceptional beer with food that includes intense flavors that burst on the palate.
