Sazerac

Ingredients:

1 1/2 oz rye whiskey
1/4 oz Pernod
1 sugar cube
dash of Angostura bitters
dash of absinthe
splash of club soda or water (optional)
orange or lemon slice
Ice

Preparation:

Fill an old-fashioned glass with ice. In another glass mix the sugar with the bitters dissolving the sugar. Add some ice, stirring to chill. In the old-fashioned glass, remove the ice and pour in the absinthe coating the entire glass. Remove any excess absinthe. Add the rye whiskey and bitters/sugar mixture. Add the orange or lemon twist.
